For my health and longevity of course!

It all started in fall of 2012 when I went on a yoga retreat. All the staff were so beautiful, almost glowing. I wanted to be just like them.

It wasn’t too long afterwards that I discovered that they were plant based. They ate what they called ‘living food’. I decided that I had to look into it. That lead me to discover The Blue Zones - places in the world where people live longer and healthier than anywhere else on earth.

One “aha” moment had me place my hand over my stomach and think “I don’t feel my stomach! When was the last time I felt my stomach? About a week ago!” Before this I was having indigestion, heart burn and bloating almost every single day. And just like that it was gone! Then I realized that I had not eaten meat in over a week. I was hooked; and it required more investigation.

I did not intentionally stop eating meat. I believe that as I became more aware of the health benefits of not eating it I unconsciously stopped eating it, which lead to this aha moment. After researching more I discovered many success stories of people elevating stomach issues and avoiding the need for pills and medications.  This lead to other stories about people reversing type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease. Wow! This needed more investigation now. Over the years I have read many books and watched many documentaries on the subject.

I now truly believe that a plant based diet can lead to a healthier and more active existence. This is a lifestyle where I can thrive and get used to.
